Please read carefully:
- Locate your insurance policy/card. Call your insurance company and find out if your insurance covers mental health services. Not all insurance covers mental health. If your insurance does not, you or your guardian will be responsible for paying for services out of pocket. Those services and fees will be explained to you upfront, along with our 24 hour cancellation policy.
- If you do have mental health insurance you will need to locate your coverage for OON (out of network) providers. We do not accept insurance for anything but dTMS (with rare exceptions). Call your insurance company to ensure that Brooklyn Minds will be covered as an out of network provider. This is also a good time to find out what the reimbursements rates are for out of network providers. For example, many times insurance will only cover 30% of the cost. That means if your therapist is $300/hr, you will pay $210 after your insurance company reimburses you. You will be responsible for paying the entire $300 upfront and filing the paperwork with your insurance company.
- IMPORTANT!!!! Make sure to ask your insurance company if they require prior authorization, as this could affect whether you are reimbursed or not. Preauthorization can usually be handled by phone. You will then receive an authorization number that you will use to file to receive reimbursement from your insurance company.
- Ask your insurance company if there is any limit on how many visits, how long the sessions are allowed to be, or if there are any services you may want Brooklyn Minds to provide that MAY NOT be covered under insurance. Do not assume you will get reimbursed unless you verify it first.
