Dr. Jacowitz joined the Brooklyn Minds team as a post-doctoral clinician after receiving her PsyD from Widener University. She completed her APA approved pre-doctoral internship at Widener Partnership Charter School, where she conducted psycho-educational assessments along with individual and group behavioral therapy. She has five years of clinical training including one year at The University of Pennsylvania College Counseling Center. Dr. Jacowitz’s dissertation, “The Development of an Acceptance and Commitment Protocol for Latent Female Sexual Identity Exploration,” focused on creating a treatment for a specific niche of the LGBTQ population. Dr. Jacowitz enjoys working with all sexual orientations, gender expressions, races, ethnicities, and lifestyles.
Dr. Jacowitz employs evidence-based treatment modalities tailored to her clients’ individual needs such as third-wave mindfulness-based treatments like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. Jacowitz’s ACT treatment specialties include anxiety, depression, sexual identity exploration, and chronic pain. Additional treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT).
